“M&OW” is looking for dance extras for 11 April 2008

9 April 2008

Me and Orson Welles

One of the owners of “The London Swing Cats” posted on the Swing Junction message board (on 1 April & 7 April 2008) that they are looking for dance extras for Me and Orson Welles to film on 11 April 2008. Based on this it seems likely that Zac is at least until then in the UK (no info is available if it might be even longer – nobody knows at the moment when Me and Orson Welles will wrap filming).

Obviously it doesn’t state if Zac will be there but considering that he is in almost all the scenes in the book I would assume he is. Based on this info, it looks like we will see Zac dancing two classic dances from the 1930’s. I’m looking forward to see that.

Here are the two posts:

Hi Everyone

We have been asked to recruit dancers for a major British film which is shooting next week.

Set in New York 1937, ME AND ORSON WELLES, is directed by Richard Linklater and stars the likes of Zac Efron, Ben Chaplin & Claire Danes. Music is by Jools Holland.

They need up to 35 couples (70 people) who will be available for an all day shoot at the Rivoli Ballroom on Friday 11th April.

Additionally, you will need to be available for a session with the choreographer this coming Saturday afternoon, 5th April in London.

With the choreographer you will learn two dances, a slow social foxtrot and also “The Crush” (a simple slow rhythm dance which was popular in America in the late 1930’s) which you will be dancing to The Jools Holland Orchestra.

Additionally, you may need to schedule an additional fitting session with their wardrobe department sometime next week.

The day rate for this is very good. It will also give you the opportunity to add more dances to your repertoire and enjoy the experience of working on a film set.

The age range is predominantly from late teens to mid-thirties, but there may be space for a few older dancers.

If you have your own clothing (late 1930’s daywear) then this would be an advantage but it is not essential.

If you are interested, then please email me (robertaustin863@btinternet.com) as soon as possible. Please remember you must be able to make both the filming on Friday 11th April and also the choreography session on Saturday 5th April and perhaps a fitting session.

After I have received your email I will contact you and send you a basic form to fill in (we will also need a head and shoulders photo).

All the dancers must be in place by Friday lunchtime this week.

Please feel free to call me if you need further information.

Hi Everyone

We are looking for another 20 couples (20 guys, 20 girls) for the new film “Me & Orson Welles” which is shooting this Friday 11th April. (See original posting)

You would also need to be available this Wednesday evening for a rehearsal with the choreographer and possibly during the day for a costume fitting.

If you have your own clothes you should take them to the fitting.

A basic knowledge of the foxtrot would be an advantage but not essential.

If you are interested please contact me urgently on: 020 8829 0919 / 07790 762932
Or on this email address: robertaustin863@btinternet.com

We will also need you to fill in a form with all your details and return it with a photograph.

If we already have your information then don’t worry we’ll get back in touch with you soon if the film company want to use you.

Cheers

Robert
